We were not able to get the direct flight from Atlanta to Cape Town without paying like $3800 each.  Instead, we have an 8 HOUR layover in LONDON, ENGLAND!!  I am so excited about that.  How great is that going to be… Just when you think that you will be so blessed to be visiting just one country you actually get 2 for 1..LOL.  The only thing is that we will be traveling for like 1.5 days.  We will be leaving Atlanta on a 10.30 pm flight to London and then have an 8 hour layover leaving at like 6ish from London to Cape Town, finally getting there around 7.30 am Tuesday morning. Ughhhh…

So, in our last meeting we discussed some ideas around the big table about the fun and inspiring things that we may have seen at a past event that made it memorable and fun.  The theme for the event is going to be titled ”IMAGINE”.  We had to bring 2 items of significance with us to the meeting. I brought my cell phone and a picture of my family.  The reason that my cell phone is significant is because it is my MAIN connection to family and friends.  It holds my pictures and video memories.  I brought the picture of my family because they just mean the world to me.  We as a family have been through so much that I just don’t know what I would do without them. We all had some inspiring things and fun things that we were able to come up with.  The IMAGINE event is going to be held Wednesday night the week that we get there.  We also might have some quality time to talk one on one with small group leaders while we are there too.

Hello Again ~

So Sunday we had out second official group meeting.  We were brainstorming about the trip.  we initially were going to host an Appreciation Event for the volunteers at the church, but I think that GOD has pushed us in a little bit of a different direction.  Our main focus now is to cast a vision for community, help out some of the leaders, and just be available to whomever or whatever the church needs.

In the past couple of weeks I have been getting closer to GOD.  One of the group members, Eddie, had brought in this excerpt from a book about fasting.  He thought that it might be a good idea.  I have never fasted at all before.  I have been reading the packet and so far I can see how fasting would help a person with spiritual discipline and discernment.  I think that I am going to try it and see how GOD helps me with some of the spiritual things that I have been praying for and to be a little more disciplined in my own walk.

Please continue to pray for our team as we continue to get a little closer to the trip.  As we seek out what GOD has in store for our trip and what he what us to do in Cape Town.  As an active participant in community I have a first hand glimpse of what GOD can do and how spiritual giving leads to abundant receiving.

Biltong ~ jerky

Eina ~ pronounced Aynah means ouch

Lekkar ~ pronounced lekka expresses approval or excitement.

Robot ~ means traffic light

Ag shame ~ means what a pity or expresses sympathy

Cool drink ~ is a canned or bottled soft drink

Jislaaik ~ is an expression, “You don’t say”… expresses surprise or amazement

Sharp ~ means ok or good

Sis ~ expresses disgust, ugh, or eww.

Eh ~ pronounced “hay” is used at the end of a sentence. Thanks, eh.

Kwaai ~ pronounced K-way me and great or terrific.

I am so exited for this trip.  I love that Jesus has put this trip on my heart.  I love that he will provide and I love that he loves me even with all of my flaws.

God Bless ~ More to come soon….

Chrissy ~
